Hold Me Now.

“ Were all stars to disappear or die, I should learn to look at an empty sky And feel its total dark sublime, Though this might take me a little time.” ~The More Loving One  ~~  WH Auden I always knew the end was near. And I always tried to shoo it away. Because I always had a reason. A reason to carry on. A reason to hope. A reason to wait. A reason to reason with myself. And the reason was you. I knew things were not perfect for us. But I always thought that we could work it out in our own way. The gap between us, the years, the levels, could be bridged. Only if you would once tell me. Only if I could tell you. I knew what your fears were. And I certainly knew mine. But I always believed. And I always dreamed. And yet again the fate was the same. I knew you were afraid of us not being close, in distance. I also knew that you were afraid of the connection. I know your fear was the reason you kept asking me when I was leaving . Or were you asking me because y...

Chai

Even though I ought to love coffee, being from ‘the Land Of Coffee’ (Coorg), Chai has been and will always be favourite beverage. I don’t really remember how or when i started drinking Chai. But my earliest memories of it is getting up from my cozy bed in Srinagar, with a cup of tea on my bedside table. My brother and I used to wake up only when the cold November air carried to us the fragrance of tea. And only then would we unwillingly move ourselves out of bed in those beautiful cold, snowy and wintry days to get ready for school. And a lotta times we never opened our eyes but sat up in bed and held that tea cup in our hands so that it’s warmth could compensate for the letting go of the feathery China blanket. Aaaah those days. And that was where I was introduced to the heavenly Kahwaa!! And the even more heavenly almonds at the end of the cup. Scooping out those almonds with a Chinar leaf shaped spoon after the tea is done is pure ecstasy, now that’s Life! So t...

And Then I Grew Up.

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half-light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet, Tread softly because you tread on my dreams ~William Butler Yeats I have always believed in the dream world that Bollywood shows us. While a lot of others criticize it for it’s sheer drama and masala and dhinchak music and dance, it’s larger than life portrayal of family, friends, love …life,, I have loved these very aspects of it. I have cried when My Shah cries on screen, I have loved when he loved, I sang along when he sang, and I have danced to each and every song of his. Having said all this I have always known that Bollywood is not life and life is not Bollywood. But there was always a little girl inside me who unconditional...

The Time I Met Black

I have always heard of an ‘unfair’ world. I have heard my Ma speak about it, I have read about it in books, articles, seen it unfold in movies. Always knew it existed but never encountered it myself. I have tried to follow what I always seen my Pa do. Speak the truth. Do what is right, irrespective of how tough it is or how easy the other path may seem. Do not do something with the anticipation that you will be rewarded for it. Always dream. And always try to make it happen. Never measure your life with how much money you have earned, but with how many friends you’ve made, the times you have laughed and been happy and the things you’ve done which made you realise your worth as a human being. I follow everything. To the last word. I do what is right, not what is easy. I practice what my Ma-Pa preached and what i now preach. And I always wondered why everyone wouldn’t do the same. It all seemed pretty easy to me. I mean, how difficult is it to speak the truth or how tough is it to no...

Be Here Now.

This song is from the movie 27 Dresses. It’s my favourite part of the movie. When Jane’s heart breaks…yet again. I love the song, not because it talks about heartbreak, it does not, I love it simply because it talks about the strength you need to overcome any failure and move on. It talks about not anchoring yourself to one person/place/situation but to yourself. Because at the end when everything is washed away by the waves of sadness that Life brings in..whether or not you are washed away depends on how well you can hold onto your anchor, your hope, your voice… it all depends on how strong you are. What is happening now is for the good. What has happened was for the good and what will happen is also for the good. God has a plan for all of us and it is up to to us to be strong and wait with patience to watch every little piece of this puzzle called Life come together to make a more meaningful and beautiful picture. As my best friend puts it - treat these bad times and heartbreaks as ‘d...

Time

A time to meet and a time to part. a time when people and places eventually grow apart  but always a time to make memories that will last.  A time to wish and wait, always witnessing the unfolding of fate.  A time to cry and to pray,  and a time to laugh and make hay.  A time to look up and high,  searching for the diamond in my sky. A time when to music I sway  and a time to silently walk away.  A time to kiss and hug,  and a time when my heart feels the tug.  A time to be Alice in Wonderland  and a time to accept reality at hand.  A time to smile and hum a song  and a time to ponder why he's gone.  A time to be my Papa's little girl  back in childhood to dance and swirl.  A time to be the shoulder strong  and a time to weep until dawn.  A time to be the belle of the ball  and a time to see myself fall.  A time to walk by the stream,  always having a...

Naina

Kash main tumhe bata sakta Naina ki main tumhe kitna chahta hoon. I love you. I love you very very much Naina. I love you and main aankhein bandh karta hoon toh tumhe dekta hoon, aankhein kholta hoon toh tumhe dekhna chahta hoon. Tum paas nahi hoti toh tumhe chaaro taraf mehsoos karta hoon, har pal, har ghadi, har waqt. Mere naina Meri Naina ko dhundte hain.Tum isse pyaar kaho, pagalpan, ya meri dil ki dhadkan, mere liye toh ek hi baat hain. Pyaar toh bahut log karte hain, lekin mere jaisa pyaar koi kar nahi sakta kyunki kissi ke pass tum jo nahi ho. Main tumhe bhool nahi sakta Naina. Main tumhe bhoolna hi nahi chahta. Tum meri ho, main tumhe zindagi bhaar pyaar karoonga, marte dum tak pyaar karoonga aur uske baad bhi. Shah Rukh Khan in Kal Ho Na Ho
